Chandrapur, Dhule and Uran, Maharashtra
Appointed by
The owner — a state power generation company
Period
Work order November 2023; report due within 15 days
01 · The assignment
What was asked
Maharashtra's state generation company asked for a valuation of fixed assets at three of its stations under a single work order: the land, buildings and plant & machinery of units 3 to 7 at the Chandrapur Thermal Power Station, the movable assets of the Sakri solar plant in Dhule district, and the movable assets of the Uran gas-turbine station.
The three sites run on three different technologies — coal-fired steam units, a photovoltaic plant and gas turbines — and the order set a reporting period of 15 days from receipt.
02 · What we did
How the work ran
- 01Inspection of each station with the owner's engineers, working from the plant's fixed-asset registers and drawings.
- 02Separate asset schedules for each site: civil works and buildings, boiler-turbine-generator islands and balance of plant at Chandrapur; modules, inverters, mounting structures and evacuation equipment at Sakri; gas turbines, generators and auxiliaries at Uran.
- 03Valuation of land and buildings by our Land & Building registered valuers and of plant & machinery by our Plant & Machinery registered valuers, reported as one assignment.
03 · Technical considerations
What mattered for this asset
A thermal unit's value depends on its remaining useful life, which is set by the age of the boiler and turbine, the operating regime and any renovation and modernisation already carried out — not by the book value in the asset register.
Solar plants degrade predictably; module age and inverter generation drive the depreciation assumptions more than the civil works do.
Gas-turbine stations carry a high proportion of their value in the turbines and generators themselves, so the condition and overhaul history of each machine matter more than the station's footprint.
04 · Outcome
What the record shows
The work order was accepted on 8 November 2023; it set a single 15-day reporting period for all three stations.
The same station appears in our industries gallery; the photographs are from our company profile.
Client: Maharashtra State Power Generation Co. Ltd. (MAHAGENCO). Dates and scope are as recorded in our assignment registers; amounts are rounded bands and lender branches are not identified.
